Commentaires sur l'espèce

G. mollis est une espèce à la démographie fluctuante, qui peut facilement devenir minoritaire dans un habitat peu ou mal géré (notamment par des fauches trop précoces). L’identification des Chorthippus et des Gomphocerippus est souvent difficile. La connaissance du chant est une nécessité pour s’assurer de l’identification spécifique dans ce groupe morphologiquement uniforme.

Ciblage des prospections

Le meilleur critère de détermination est le chant, très reconnaissable chez cette espèce qui produit un son différent selon le fémur usité. C’est une espèce plutôt tardive, s’observant de juillet à octobre.
